Why filter your water?
Let’s make it simple, rather than pages of long-winded scary names of bacteria/contaminants that are found in drinking water.
Just ask yourself this simple question, what’s in the water supply you use and drink – don’t know? then you need a water filter system.
What system should you get?
There is so much misinformation out there that it’s like a minefield. The H2o Tank Doctor has narrowed the selection down for you.
Having been in the water storage and usage business since 1988 we have seen and serviced it all, so with that said we have selected two brands, Viqua and Alpine Pure, which we believe stand miles above the rest in quality, warranty, fit for purpose, ease of servicing and value for money.
From those two brands, we have then selected the All of House / Home and under kitchen bench water filter systems with UV ( Ultraviolet light ) sterilisation to protect and provide 99.99% bacteria-free water for you and your family.
What’s the difference between our Viqua and Alpine Pure water filter systems?
Very little, in fact to look at they are almost identical. Both are fit for purpose and deliver what’s required.
Both Brands come with one of the longest warranties available on the market, which is a 10-year warranty on the UV stainless chamber (Apline Pure 5 years), 5 years on the chassis and filter housings and 2 years on the power supply for the UV light.
Both water filter systems are assembled/made in Australia.
The UV component for Viqua is from Canada and the Alpine Pure is from Asia – both considered the highest quality available.
The best way to really describe the difference is this – Viqua is the Rolls Royce and Alpine Pure is the Bentley.
What size water filter system do you need?
The following is a general guide, factors like – what are your filtration requirements, are you on urban / town water or is it a rainwater tank storage delivery system – should be taken into consideration.
Under bench type is just that, the main filter system is usually installed under the kitchen sink in the cupboard with a single tap mounted either on the bench top, on or near the kitchen sink. These units are a “single tap” safe water protection.
For a small granny flat, 1 bathroom 1-2 persons would need a Viqua Bug Buster Pearl filter system. These units are for “every tap” safe water protection.
For a 1-2 Bedroom house, 1-2 bathrooms and 2-4 persons would need a Viqua Bug Buster Silver filter system. These units are for “every tap” safe water protection.
For a 3-bedroom house, 2-3 bathrooms and 4-5 persons would need either a Viqua or Alpine Pure Bug Buster Gold filter system. These units are for “every tap” safe water protection.
For a 4 plus Bedroom, 3 plus bathrooms and 4 plus persons would need either a Viqua or Alpine Pure Bug Titanium filter system. These units are for “every tap” safe water protection.
How difficult are they to install?
Someone who knows/has basic plumbing skills could install any of these water filter systems.
The H2o Tank Doctor advises engaging a registered plumber to install your new water filter system so you comply with all Australian building standards. If a powerpoint / electrical supply is required to run the UV filter then a registered electrician is advised.
