Water Week 2024 – Water is the only Element with a full cycle

Water is the only element that has a full cycle – water covers 70% of the earth’s surface but only 3% of that water is fresh and safe to drink. Of the available fresh water, about 85-90% of it is held in the ice sheet. Some of which is 2,500 metersbelow sea level. ALL the water we haveon the planet NOW is ALL the water wewill EVER HAVE.So, how do we protect and use it so future generations have safe, clean drinking water too? The first step in a long journey is asimportant as the steps that come after. Doing something small to protect yourwater supply is part of your journey tocleaner water. On Tamborine Mountain, we are “rain harvesters” – we collect, store, and deliver water to our houses, businesses, schools, shops, offices, restaurants and everywhere else it’s needed. The cleanliness of our water table is prized as high-quality fresh water. This is why water is being “trucked” off Tamborine Mountain for use in the bottled water industry. As a community, we should look after each other – including protecting our water supply. See tomorrow’s post for some tips on looking after your precious water.
